Therapeutic Juicing Combinations

Many juicing therapies are based on herbal medicine. The following are several combinations that are often recommended for relieving specific ailments or for boosting certain nutrients.

ANTINAUSEANT/SINUS

Purpose
To prevent nausea, motion sickness, and help clear sinus congestion.

Juicing Combinations
1/2 inch slice of fresh ginger
1 lemon
1 apple
2 cups flat ginger ale.

How to Make
Put ginger, lemon, and apple through juicer, stir the mixture into the ginger ale.

CALCIUM SHAKE

Purpose
A good drink for those who don’t like milk or have difficulty drinking it.

Juicing Combinations
1 cup broccoli florets
2-3 kale leaves
3-4 carrots
1 apple

How to Make
Remove carrot tops; juice ingredients together and chill.

FOLATE TONIC

Purpose
A good booster of this B vitamin for women on birth control pills or during pregnancy.

Juicing Combinations
1 orange
2-3 carrots
1 cup chopped kale
Handful of parsley

How to Make
Remove carrot tops; put ingredients through juicer. Chill and serve with a slice of lemon as garnish.

POTASSIUM BOOSTER

Purpose
To restore potassium stores after diarrhea or when taking diuretics.

Juicing Combinations
1 orange
1/2 cantaloupe
2-3 carrots
1 banana

How to Make
Put first three ingredients through juicer; puree banana in blender and mix with juice.

PUMPING IRON

Purpose
To build iron reserves; a good drink during pregnancy.

Juicing Combinations
1 bunch parsley
1 red pepper
1 cup broccoli florets
3 raw carrots

How to Make
Put ingredients through juicer in same order as in the list; flavor with lemon or orange juice is desired.

VITAMIN C REFRESHER

Purpose
A good drink when you feel a cold coming on.

Juicing Combinations
1 kiwi
1 mango (peeled)
1/2 cantaloupe
1/2 cup strawberries

How to Make
Put ingredients through juicer and served over ice.
