How many times have you been out to a restaurant and received parsley on your plate only to have returned your plate with the parsley still on it?
Parsley isn’t used solely as a decoration it’s also there to eat because it’s rich in vitamin C, iron and potassium and is well known for calming the stomach.
In addition to those nutrients parsley also contains beta-carotene, vitamin B12, vitamin K, folic acid, healthy fatty acids and chlorophyll.
You can easily eat parsley with food or on salads but juicing parsley allows you to consume more than if you were to eat it whole because it gets concentrated.
If you are interested in trying to juice parsley for any existing health conditions you should first speak with your doctor to make sure it’s a healthy choice for you to make at this time.
* Boost your immune system. Parsley is rich in vitamins which can help to strengthen your body’s immune system against bacteria, germs and viruses.
* Use as a diuretic or laxative. Drugs.com states that parsley is great for the kidneys and is basically a diuretic. Parsley also helps the body rid itself of toxins. If you’re currently taking a diuretic medication you’ll want to be careful about using parsley. Your doctor will be able to tell you if you are okay to proceed with consuming concentrated parsley on a regular basis.
* Use it as an iron supplement. Some people who suffer from anemia have a hard time with iron supplements but drinking parsley juice may allow you to take in the iron that your body needs. You should speak with your doctor first though to determine how much you should be taking.
* Freshens breath. This is thought to be the main reason that restaurants add parsley to their meal plates. After eating your meal, whether it was onions, garlic or other foods with strong odors, parsley can help block the odor out and reveal fresher breath. Wait until you’re through with your meal before consuming the parsley.
If you have spoken with your health care provider and they have said it’s okay for you to begin juicing parsley or consuming it, there are different things you can add to your juice to make it taste better. Parsley by itself may not taste too good. Feel free to add fruits and veggies to perk up the flavor and add additional vitamins and nutrients that your body craves.
