Juicy is the perfect way to get more nutrients like Vitamin C and potassium at each meal.  These nutrients are important when it comes to controlling hypertension.</p>
<p>To lower your blood pressure and enjoy all the benefits of juicing, you will need a high quality juicer.  If juicing is new to you, resist the attempt to buy a cheap juicer.  It will likely break down quickly and you&#8217;ll end up having to buy another one.  Look for a juicer with at least a 5 year warranty.  Choose a juicer that can handle all types of fruits and vegetables, not just citrus fruits.  Buy a juicer that you don&#8217;t mind keeping on your kitchen counter.  If you have to put the juicer away after every use, you won&#8217;t use it very often.</p>
<p>Next, buy plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.  Keep in mind that if you use good quality raw materials, you will end up with quality juice.  Even though you might start juicing to lower your blood pressure, the juice doesn&#8217;t have to taste like medicine.  Organic produce makes great tasting juice.</p>
<p>To ease into the juicing lifestyle, start with something simple like a glass of citrus juice.  Citrus is packed with Vitamin C and studies have been conducted that show that Vitamin C supplements effectively reduce systolic blood pressure.  You can lower your blood pressure by drink a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice with every meal.  Any citrus fruit will accomplish the same effect, but grapefruit juice interferes with some cholesterol medication.  If you take cholesterol lowering medication, check with your physician before juicing grapefruits.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s a good reason to juice celery and carrots as well.  Celery contains phyhalides that are known to reduce blood pressure.  Celery is also an excellent source of magnesium, calcium, and potassium, each of which can help lower blood pressure.  Carrots are a great source of vitamin A and many other nutrients, including magnesium and potassium.</p>
<p>Next, try beet juice.  Studies have been conducted that show that beet juice lowers blood pressure within 60 minutes of drinking it.  It also keeps blood pressure down for 24 hours after drinking it.  Drinking beet juice daily is an excellent way to control blood pressure.  Because beet juice is known to temporarily paralyze vocal chords, mix 1-2 ounces of pure beet juice with at least 6 ounces of apple or vegetable juice.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t stop eating fruits and vegetables.  Even if you consume the pulp after juicing, you will still lose part of the fiber the fruits and vegetables contain.  Be careful when you start juicing that you don&#8217;t consume too many calories.  Because juice won&#8217;t fill you up like the actual produce does, it&#8217;s easy to get too many calories.  You also have to make sure you don&#8217;t get too many nutrients.  While juicing is a great way to supplement your diet, it just can&#8217;t take the place of actually eating the fruits and veggies.</p>

<p>Combined with a powerful motor the rotor cutter blade is able to extract up to 30% more juice than comparable juicers. A true test of a juicers efficiency is to examine the pulp left by the extraction process. Across the board the Lalanne juicer&#8217;s pulp is dryer than other juicers meaning more juice has gone into your glass.</p>
<p>Cleaning is easy and straight forward however, it is advisable to clean your juicer as soon after juicing as possible. Fruits and vegetables can stain the interior of most juicers and the Lalanne juicers are no exception.</p>
<p>While the Lalanne juicer is labeled &#8220;commercial quality&#8221; this does not mean it can be used in an industrial manner. It will not survive hard daily juicing of large hard fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>Its feeder tube is large and will accommodate bigger pieces of fruits and vegetables but as mentioned just because it&#8217;s large does it does mean it will or should accept things like pressing in unskinned pineapple chunks, or an avocado with the seed.</p>
<p>While advertising claims may be a little too generous in the juicers capabilities practicality and safety should be observed. If the juicer is subjected to hard continuous use it will reduce its lifespan considerably.</p>
<p>For proper care and feeding of your Lalanne juicer it&#8217;s best plan on doing a little prep work. For instance, taking a few moments to slice and cut your fruits and vegetables will place less stress on the motor which will extend the lifespan of the juicer.</p>
<p>While we do advise cutting your fruits and vegetables into smaller pieces, which gives less wear and tear on the motor we are by no means saying the Jack Lalanne juicer is a lightweight when it comes to power, power it has, and in aces.</p>
<p>Believe it or not cleanup is what frustrates most people considering juicing. If your juicer is complicated to take apart and clean it is no surprise most people won&#8217;t be thrilled to juice everyday. </p>
<p>Bottom line &#8211; A juicer should be easy to cleanup. </p>

<p>To begin the process of juicing, a person needs to acquire a juicer. The easier the juicer is to use the better it will be. Trying to make fresh juice on a daily basis can cause frustration when a person has to deal with a lot of preparation work and a daunting cleanup process. It is important to have a machine that is quick and easy to use. Machines that come with a large top feeding tube will make preparation easy because you do not have to cut the fruits and vegetables into small pieces to load. </p>
<p>Another important specification to consider when looking for the perfect juicer is to make sure it comes with a container for the pulp of the fruit that is expelled. This will make it easier to dump what is not needed.</p>
<p>It should also be mentioned that organic produce should be used if possible. Controversy is brewing over the nutritional value of organic versus conventional foods. Valid points are made on both sides of the issue, but one factor remains organic produce limits a person&#8217;s exposure to pesticides that can be found on conventional produce. Recent publications have noted the high levels of pesticide that remain on vegetables like carrots that are not organic.</p>

<p>Lastly, it should be pointed out that a person needs to increase their daily fiber intake. It is recommended that a person get 20 to 35 grams of fiber daily, unfortunately most Americans are only getting about 14 to 15 grams daily. Soluble fiber is gained from vegetable and fruit juice. Juicing blueberries are also a great way to increase fiber in a person&#8217;s diet. Blueberries have the ability to improve the digestive system, thus reducing constipation. </p>

<p>The famed research institution, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, was responsible for the scientific study which revealed that the simple cranberry, when ingested in juice form. can halt the E coli bacteria which attaches to the cells in the body via tiny hooks known as fimbriae. The juice contains a specific type of molecule which makes the fimbriae to be repelled, which stops the attachment to the body&#8217;s urinary tract cells.</p>
<p>The findings of the research included the news that E coli bacteria in its stronger forms is simply too powerful to be expelled from the urinary tract via urine flow. However, the presence of cranberry juice changes this and allows a significant amount of the bacteria to be removed from the human body. </p>
<p>While it was previously known that cranberries and their juice carry the power to prevent urinary tract infections, this new information has revealed more specifics about the way that cranberries are able to do this.</p>
